LEAGUE OF
EXTRAORDINARY TEENS

The
Governor's League of
Extraordinary Teens is a statewide
initiative seeking to engage Tennesseans ages 13
– 19 in the financial and logistical support of
the 95 Tennessee counties offering Dolly
Parton's Imagination Library -- a program that
mails a new, age-appropriate, hardcover book
each month to children from birth to age five,
at no cost to the family and regardless of
income.
League Membership
requires teens to
personally register a minimum of 10 children and
raise a minimum of $135 to cover the cost of
including those children in their county’s
Imagination Library for one year.
As a return on their efforts, Extraordinary
Teens receive a certificate of appreciation
signed by Gov. Phil Bredesen, are recognized on
the Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation (GBBF)
Web site, and listed in a recurring
Extraordinary Teens section inside GBBF's
quarterly newsletter,
Signpost. (PDF) |
